Furrow Cruiser

The Copperhead Furrow Cruiser® finally solved the SIDEWALL COMPACTION problem that came with the development of the double disk opening system on modern planters. The “V” created by the opening system on planters causes a compaction zone that is necessary to get the seed down to planting depth. The problem with this is that current stock rubber tires and cast press wheels cannot consistently crumble and firm this soil back around the seed. With inconsistent seed-to-soil contact, emergence takes a hit, and yields suffer.

The Furrow Cruiser solves this 50 year old problem by using a spike to crumble down the compaction in the sidewall and then having width at the base of the spike to firm the soil around the seed. Other spikes try to duplicate the crumbling action of our wheels, but leave out the firming action, causing sidewall lift and uneven seed depth. This is why we saw farmers moving to one spike and one press wheel, so that they get crumbling on one side and firming of seed on the other. With Furrow Cruisers® having a wide wheel combined with a spike, we get firming and crumbling on both sides of the seed trench, leading to the best seed depth and most even seed emergence possible.

Furrow Cruiser® patented tooth design has also been optimized to clean out well, so when conditions are more saturated than ideal, the planter can keep running! The spacing and shape of our tooth is unique to the industry, causing our wheel to yield consistently better than similar products when tested side by side over several years. When you are planting a year’s worth of revenue, don’t trust your emergence to anything other than the proven best!

Description for Case IH Conversion Kit

INITIAL TRIALS HAVE SHOWN EXCITING IMPROVEMENTS IN SEED-TO-SOIL CONTACT!

Farmer testimonial of the Case closing system not working well in conditions other than ideal led to the development of the Case Conversion Kit, which converts the case wide closing wheel into a two wheel closing system. Farmers kept telling us they would walk behind their planter and find the furrow completely open, with very little dirt moved back over the seed. The Case closing system works well in a sand table demonstration, but lacks the power necessary to deal with clay soils, residue, cover crops, or extra moisture. In a real world situation, farmers needed a closing wheel that could crumble down the sidewalls and ensure excellent seed to soil contact for each seed. With a wheel that both crumbles down the soil with the spike, and firms the soil around the seed with the width, Copperhead Ag Furrow Cruiser wheels are meant for helping this Case planter close the seed trench in all planting conditions.

The simple conversion takes a matter of minutes to convert your Case IH planter from the single packing wheel to the 2 wheel Furrow Cruiser® closing wheel system. Pull the bolt and the single packing wheel off of the tail piece. Slide on the Copperhead Ag bracket and attach it with 2 bolts thru the existing holes. Attach the 2 Furrow Cruiser spiked closing wheels to the bracket and the conversion is completed

Compatibility

The Furrow Cruiser Case IH Conversion Kit can be used on the Case IH 5400 and 5500 Soybean Specials; and the 800, 900, and 1200 Series planters.
The kit includes a single bracket, 2 complete Furrow Cruiser wheels and the hardware to install the kit.

Furrow Cruisers® finally have solved the SIDEWALL COMPACTION problem that came with the development of the double disk opening system on all modern planters.

This is why we saw farmers moving to one spike and one press wheel, so that they get crumbling on one side and firming of seed on the other. With Furrow Cruisers(r) having a wide wheel combined with a spike, we get firming and crumbling on both sides of the seed trench, leading to the best seed depth and most even seed emergence possible.

Furrow Cruiser® patented tooth design has also been optimized to clean out well, so when conditions are more saturated than ideal, the planter can keep running!
